Here is a list of things that aren't gurklikes:

## Gurke

German [Gurke](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Gurke) means cucumber. It was
borrowed from Old Polish *ogurek*, from Byzantine Greek *ἀγγούριον*, and is
cognate with Dutch *augurk* and English *gherkin*. Swedish has *gurka*;
Norwegian and Danish have *agurk*.

## Gurk (Star Wars)

In *Star Wars*, a [gurk](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Gurk) is a hairy
humanoid animal native to the planet Lok: large, alarming to look at, peaceful,
fond of nuts and berries, and given to a very loud yell. Locals captured and
domesticated them. Gurks appear in *Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided* and
are Legends canon.

## Lindsey Gurk

[Lindsey Gurk](https://illuminateliterary.com/ourauthors/gurk-lindsey/) is an
American broadcast journalist turned social media creator, based in Pittsburgh.
She worked as a television host in Las Vegas from 2011 to 2021 and started the
Get Your Pink Back movement, and an apparel line with it, in 2022.

## Gurk (Warhammer 40,000)

In *Warhammer 40,000*, [Gurk](https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Gurk) is an Ork
Nob in Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka's Goff Guard, commanding its Ardshells mob.

## gurk-rs

[gurk-rs](https://github.com/boxdot/gurk-rs) is a Signal Messenger client for
the terminal, written in Rust by boxdot and started on July 22nd, 2020. It is
AGPL-3.0 licensed and has around 1,300 stars. The binary cannot be published on
crates.io, because it depends on official Signal libraries that aren't there.

## Gurk (river)

The [Gurk](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gurk_(river)) is a river in Carinthia,
Austria. At 156 km it is the longest river flowing entirely within the state,
rising from the alpine lakes Gurksee and Torersee in the Nock Mountains and
joining the Drava west of Völkermarkt. Its drainage basin covers about 27% of
Carinthia.

## Gurk, Carinthia

[Gurk](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gurk,_Carinthia) is also the market town
the river passes, in the District of Sankt Veit an der Glan, population 1,178 as
of January 1st, 2025.

## Gurk Cathedral

[Gurk Cathedral](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gurk_Cathedral) is the town's
Romanesque pillar basilica, built between 1140 and 1200 and consecrated in 1174.
Its twin steeples are 60 m tall and its crypt has 100 columns.

## Diocese of Gurk

The [Roman Catholic Diocese of
Gurk](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diocese_of_Gurk-Klagenfurt) was founded in
1072 by Archbishop Gebhard of Salzburg, the first suffragan see in the Duchy of
Carinthia. Its bishops were raised to prince-bishops by Emperor Frederick III on
December 15th, 1460. The see has been at Klagenfurt since 1787, so the diocese is
now Gurk-Klagenfurt while the cathedral stays where it is.

## Hemma of Gurk

[Hemma of Gurk](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hemma_of_Gurk) (c. 980 – 1045)
founded the Benedictine double monastery at Gurk in 1043, on the site the
cathedral later took over. She was beatified in 1287, canonised on
January 5th, 1938 by Pius XI, and is the patroness of Carinthia. Her feast day
is June 27th.

## Gurktaler Alpenkräuter

[Gurktaler Alpenkräuter](https://www.tasteatlas.com/gurktaler-alpenkrauter) is
an Austrian herbal liqueur, bottled at 27% ABV from a recipe of 59 herbs,
fruits, seeds and spices. The extract is made in the provost's court at Gurk
Cathedral, from herbs grown in the cloister gardens.

## Gurktal Alps

The [Gurktal Alps](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gurktal_Alps) are a range of
the Central Eastern Alps named after the river's valley, spanning Carinthia,
Styria and Salzburg. The highest peak is the Eisenhut at 2,441 m.

## Krka

The [Krka](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krka_(Sava)) in Lower Carniola,
Slovenia, carries Gurk as its German name. It is a 94.6 km right tributary of
the Sava, and a different river from the Carinthian one. It was recorded as
*Corca* in 799, *Gurke* in 1025 and *in Gurka fluvio* in 1249.

## Eduard Gurk

[Eduard Gurk](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eduard_Gurk) (November 17th, 1801 –
March 31st, 1841) was an Austrian landscape painter and printmaker who worked for
the Habsburg court under Francis I and Ferdinand I, and became court painter in
1835. He was best known as a watercolourist, and painted Ferdinand's 1830
coronation as King of Hungary and Vienna's Great Flood of 1830. He died of
typhoid in Jerusalem while documenting an Austrian expedition to the Middle
East.

## gurk (verb)

English [gurk](https://greensdictofslang.com/entry/cwtatja) is an echoic verb
meaning to belch, and in Australian use, to break wind.

## gurk (Scots)

Scots [gurk](https://dsl.ac.uk/entry/snd/gurk) is a stout, heavily built person,
or a well-grown child or beast. It is recorded in north-eastern dialect from
1739 to 1917.

## Gurk Nukem

[Gurk Nukem](https://github.com/gurkenlabs/litiengine-gurk-nukem) is a 2-bit
platforming shooter, written as the worked example for
[LITIENGINE](https://litiengine.com/), a Java 2D game engine by Gurkenlabs. It
is a tutorial project rather than a released game, and it is not an RPG.

## GURK (band)

[GURK](https://gurk.bandcamp.com/) is a punk band from Stockholm, tagged on
Bandcamp as egg punk, garage punk and lofi. Their releases are *FIRST*, *DOS*,
*TRE*, *4*, *Uneasy*, *574R* and *WORST OF GURK*.
