**Kyen - The Skeleton Amulet** is a short retro RPG by Adam Tilinger, built as a
showcase for the engine behind [Bylina - Lure of the Sorceress](/bylina). It is
playable in a browser as well as on Windows and Android.

The developer still lists it as in development on itch.io, and shipped an update
as recently as December 2025.

## Features

- Four character attributes: Strength, Accuracy, Toughness and Awareness
- **15+ status effects**, including Berserk, Blessed, Paralyzed and Poisoned
- An in-game map, character customisation and inventory management
- **One-handed interface**: numpad on desktop, touch on mobile

## Story

The party travels to the frozen land of Kyen and into the caverns beneath Castle
Buoyance, after the Skeleton Amulet.

## Concessions

Kyen is not **open world**. It is a contained dungeon quest beneath Castle
Buoyance rather than a wilderness to wander, and at roughly half an hour it is
the smallest game listed here.
